Kate works with digital and analogue moving image, stereography and sound to create collaborative, hybrid documentary portraits.
Their experimental, animistic work blurs boundaries between portrait and landscape, exploring co-authorship with equipment and the inanimate. Recurring content (inescapable not intentional) includes world-builders, obsessives, ‘eccentrics’, otherness, amateurs and the ‘mundane sublime’.
Kate Sullivan’s award-winning work has been shown at international film festivals, The BFI, ICA, and LUX.
They work as a freelance designer/director/animator in the animation industry and teach hand-drawn animation and storyboarding at Central Saint Martins.
