Jo Hartle

Joanna creates work that spans film (still and moving image), writing, sculpture, and installation; at present her work explores the emotions of lived experience with authenticity, capturing moments. Her present works are based from written form and translated into 3D works, light, digital collage and moving image. The works on display encapsulate the shifting of experiences, and the reimagined life that has occurred during her time on TOMA.

Joanna Hartle is an Essex-based artist from the Midlands, known in more recent times as a Production Director and Executive Producer and changemaker for which she was recognised as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2023. Her work has been seen across the globe since 1989. In the last few years she has stopped hiding her art practice under a bush.
